I have the habit of (mentally mostly because I rarely speak about them to anyone) pronouncing the individual letters in most acronyms. GNU is G N U. GUI is G U I, and the first time I heard someone say "gooey",I didn't immediately understand what he was talking about.

But GIF is pronounced GIF, of course.
