RIP John B. Goodenough. He was part of the team at MIT that developed computer RAM. Then he discovered the materials used in the lithium-ion battery (for which he later won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.) Do you have a cell phone or tablet? Electric car? Anything with a rechargeable battery? Thanks to Goodenough. Also, he didn't apply for a patent for the Li-ion battery. When asked what he would like to see from humanity, he replied "I don't want man, in his greed to exploit the resources of Earth, to turn what should be a garden into a desert."
